summary of my week: "sending friends off to college"

this week I spent some good quality time with my friends who will be leaving for college soon :( i also rediscovered how fun it is to take pictures on my nikon rather than just my iPhone!

so yeah.....there's a LOT of pictures this week. sorry bout it!
Sydney and i decided to roam around PB, our first stop was this cluttered vintage store

loved these too! can't wait to have my own home and decorate with rad vintage things.
and then we found a hidden place that we must of passed on the street 102039420 times, but didn't see! it's called Papa Lunas. and it's UNREAL. they make their empanadas fresh every morning.
I got one called "Sunny Goat" with goat cheese, sausage,  and sun dried tomatoes.
Syd got "Caprese" with caprese things in it, haha.
napkin holder tripod, you did good.

then we went in for round two...
banana, nutella empanada
i love you Papa Luna's. we will be back! in fact, Sydney and i agreed every time she comes home from college we'll go here.
every time i hangout with this girl we end up buying records. i guess it's kind of our thing.
and we found another! notice: the sign on the left says "beware of attack cow. MOO!"
after PB we met up with Lane, Carter and friends at fiesta island.

i spent all of wednesday with my ken for a few last adventures before she leaves.
we went to visit her mom on her last day of work!

first stop of our adventure: Seaport Village.

so puny because she won't be in California for long!
i LOVE this Herschel backpack. it's apart of the line "Rad Cars". so cool. $80. want it so bad.
across the street from Seaport Village there's a place called "The Headquarters". it was built as 1939 and was used as the San Diego Police Headquarters and now they've renovated it to be a shopping/eating/museum place.
they had the mug shots of people who stayed here and what they did.
it blew my mind to envision the inmates from the mug shots on the wall living here.
our mugshots...do we look as crazy as the other mugshots on the wall? i think so.
the modern headquarters.
she bought: pins, washi tape, and a letter banner for her dorm.
i bought: pins, washi tape, and some cool paper that i will make something with one day.
next stop: Presidio Park
atop the old Spanish watch tower, with the wall as a tripod
our famous fish and llama.
self-timer perfection....we were actually spinning.

yes, she just as pretty inside as she is on the outside.
singing: "the hills are alive with the sound of music..."
and i'm over here tripping on the steps...
i've always been obsessed with this mission. the spanish architecture/influence that San Diego has is amazing. i'm in love the city i live in!

"On this hill July 16, 1769 Padre Junipero Serra and the soldiers of Spain set the royal standard raised the cross and dedicated The San Diego De Alcala"
last stop: Old Town
introduced Ken to my childhood favorite: cinnamon and strawberry tortillas!
she looked for a dream catcher all day and found it!

one day mexican titles like these will be the backsplash of my kitchen. hopefully. God-willing.
i love this girl and i'm so glad we had this adventure together before she leaves.
off to Sarah's going away bonfire in Sara's adorable salt and pepper Mini Cooper. side note: i met Sara playing water polo my junior year (she was a sophomore) then she moved to Switzerland. this year is her senior year and she's decided to stay with a family friend, go to her old high school, and STAY IN AMERICA FOR A YEAR. i'm so excited about this!

 a Sara(h) sandwich.
dear Lord, you're artwork is breathe-taking.
mallows, grams, chocolate, a fire-like sunset, and a beautiful Sarah.

photo taken by Sarah.

ken's last trip to the beach, at least this summer. mama k's first time to the beach this summer.

mama k: "if you were going to die tomorrow, where would you spend your last day?"
me: "the beach"
mama k: "the beach"
ken: "the mall"
watermelon eatin'

mine and lane's matching suede shoes at bible study.
on friday Lane went surfing and i spent the hour under the pier enjoying life and taking pictures.

this was supposed to be a church bonfire, but only 6 people came. so we went to chipotle instead.
saturday was this girl's going away party. so sad, but so excited for her!!
Kaylee and her boyfriend Raymond. he's got a rockin' beard.
random picture of my gorgeous mom with one of our homegrown plumerias in her hair.

Shelby's going away brunch was Sunday morning.
afterwards we walked around. Seaport Village/Headquarters twice in one week? WOOOOHOOO
Shelby's brother Zach and boyfriend Morgan. they were in jail and not happy about pictures!
Zach: "i'd want to be cell mates with Augustine." Shelb: "i'd want Kitty Malone."
we got some flowaaaaasssss.

happy monday!!
